Republican State legislatures disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters

  I am registered Independent. I am neither Republican or Democrat. I vote for the candidate and policies which I believe are best for our country, my state, and my community. Tonight, September 1, 2006, NOW on PBS had a program on how many Republican state legislatures in swing states like Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Missouri are passing laws to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters and the Republican dominated Department of Justice is doing nothing about it. This disenfranchisement is not healthy for our democracy and Americans need to stand up to these attempts to limit citizen participation in their basic right to participate in our democracy.
